Blowhole Theater Cometh – Barbes Friday Feb. 20, 7-12 pm

A motley league of odd fellows and fellettes parades about the stage of Barbes (9th and 6th Ave. Brooklyn) on Friday, Feb. 20, 7-12 pm when the Blowhole Theater returns for its annual Winterlude.

Like the Island of Misfit Toys or disregarded jellied candies from a fruitcake, the Blowhole brings forth a Roman circus of curious and sweet entertainers, each performing as if their lives depended on it. In years gone by, we’ve had stripteasing hula hoop artists, the Wau Waus, silent movies, lectures on pickles, all ukulele metal bands, dada comics, Tom Waits songs, and NY’s finest rockers slumming undercover as freshfaced troubadours.

This year expect to experience the shameless Blowhole Theater Players; the Scottish-infused madness of The Highland Shatners; the cello, accordian, ukelele and various percussive devices of Bargainland; the mind-rattling monologues of Brent Cox; the emotionally twisted songs of Courtney Lee Adams; the fierce and funny Kenny Young and the Eggplants; the volcanic, lutfisk-loving Todd Phillips; Agent 99’s Hawaiian-style jazz and pop, and many more.
