Are The Smears playing? I hope so.
The Smears? They are NOT a punk band, indie/rock at best…
I should have added that it is bad enough that Girlfixer are playing with the singer’s dodgy fake american accent and rubbish Distiller wannabe songs.They don’t go to any punk gigs and when they do play anywhere they leave without waching the other bands. Very bad attitude to have, definitely not what being a punk is all about although they claim that they are punks….doh (maybe Blink 182 would like thm…?)
Nah, gotta disagree with you there. I quite like Girlfixer. Yeah I can understand wat you mean with tthe singers voice, but personally I quite like her voice. Guess it’s ust personal preference. But I went to see them recently when they supported Random Hand and they stayed and watched all the bands that night.
http://www.myspace.com/smearsuk is the correct site – you are definately looking at the canadian smears – they are no longer a band and are fucking crap. I cant speak for Girlfixer It’s not my cup of tea – but I do know that The SMEARS are one of the finest acts in the uk – and are close friends with punks from the bands such as Discharge, Uk Subs (Charlie Harper wrote a song for them), and Certified, who reguarly go and watch them play. I have followed these girls for years. They have just been signed – and are bloody lovely people. It’s a shame they are not playing.

No we don’t like the Canadian Smears….The real UK Smears are awesome. I’ve only seen them play twice – and they’re ace! Definite shame if they’re not playing at this – but I’d recommend you see them if you get chance.
hear hear Cheryl, The Smears (UK) are absolutely punk, saw them on Friday night, they were amazing! Punk on Earth would be lucky to have them on the bill, what a shame a mixup over the name has cost you such a great band!
I actually did mean the UK Smears and they are an awful mix of hole and babes in toyland wannabes.
I’ve lived in Nottingham my whole life and they are NOT friends with Certified or Discharge, they know eachother but neither Certified or Certified would vouch for them – that is a fact, get yours correct
