About Mark Badger

Mark 2007

What I do:

I run Iron Man Records, the record label has been running since 1996. I set up the Birmingham Music Network in 2000.

I’ve organised more than 1000 gigs in and around Birmingham since 1994 as Badger Promotions. Since 2002 I have continued to put on shows, but they have been few, and far between, and usually under an assumed name.

At the moment I’m playing in a band called Last Under The Sun and another one called Police Bastard.

I write and maintain several music related blogs and work to promote new music where possible.

What I do for Money:

I work as a Tour Manager & Driver and I can also help with Vehicle hire, merchandise, production, backline, crew, rehearsal, recording, press, promotion and online strategy. I can be found in or around Birmingham, Cardiff and London on a regular basis.

I assemble online strategy for bands and companies, and in recent years I have worked with clients like the The Orb, Arrows, Xova, Moving Space Tours, Good 2 Go Tours, and many others who have asked for my help.

I have lectured at Birmingham City University as part of their Music Business degree course, I’ve delivered work for the Musicians Union, projects for Birmingham City Council, Learning and Skills Council and Advantage West Midlands.

I run a shop on ebay selling all sorts of good alternative music on cd or vinyl.

I enjoy a good game of mental chess with local government and funding organisations who sometimes try and pocket too much of the money intended for struggling local musicians and creatives. I also argue a lot with people who think the “arts” should be funded.

About Kevan Tidy:

Before working with Iron Man Records Kevan was a musician and a songwriter. He encountered the usual problems and attempted scams of the record industry and developed an interest and expertise in contracts and copyright.

Kevan soon realised that the only lawyers dealing in this kind of law were mainly in London and very expensive. There was nothing for up and coming musicians.

Kevan qualified as a lawyer and decided to try and help. Kevan has never turned anyone away on the grounds that they cannot afford it. This applies to anyone, not just musicians. Kevan can help aspiring inventors, film makers, writers, musicians etc.

Kevan enjoys working with Iron Man Records and all the bands but believing photographs morph his soul (a problem most other lawyers need have no fear of) no current image of him exists. Kevan also enjoys causing all sorts of legal trouble for the larger so called “industry” companies, greedy local councils and badly run local funding organisations who use musicians as a means to draw down better wages.

Apart from the Legal work, Kevan is currently working hard on a number of other projects.
