a note from Seth of Dufus:

Besides that, Seth and the others have been hard at work in the studio working on yet another album, this one with a full horn section, 2 drummers, electric guitar, accordion, bass, violin, Seth and some kickass choir members. We expect to release the album, which is tentatively entitled, “Woo,” in early 2010.

Also in the works perpetually is Seth’s stream of consciousness puppet rock opera, “23 Psaegz.” Once “Woo” is finished, we’ll begin work on that one, most likely in January 2010.

  • born in Oakland, California. When he was four years old, his parents split up. His father played boogie-woogie piano and at five or six years old Wold tried to learn but could not. At age eight, he learned to play the guitar (he later found out that it was blues) from K. C. Douglas, who worked at his grandfather's garage. Douglas wrote the song "Mercury Blues" and used to play with Tommy Johnson,[citation needed]. Wold left home at 13 to avoid abuse at the hands of his stepfather, and lived rough and on the road in Tennessee, Mississippi and elsewhere, until 1973. He would travel long distances by hopping freight trains, looking for work as a farm labourer or in other seasonal jobs, often living as a hobo. At various times, Wold worked as a carnie, cowboy and a migrant worker.
Of his time he once said: Hobos are people who move around looking for work, tramps are people who move around but don't look for work, and bums are people who don't move and don't work. I've been all three.

  • From the guts of the soon to be, any minute now, world famous Blue Whale Studios comes the freshest show in all of show biz’s razzley dazzley history – In The Belly.

You young fun pots craving the latest lubed up lug hole stimulation need roam the cyber world no longer as you are to be seduced and satiated by two of radios dopest and dopiest sonic sex pests in the whole of internetsville.

Hash Murphy flicks the switches while Andy Roberts mumbles and mutters incoherently. It’s an un-missable, nonsensical monthly music missile that in no way whatsoever sounds like a couple of chancers fumbling about, spinning a few tunes and showing off behind a microphone.

In The Belly brings you live session performances and banal interviews of the tastiest new acts around – Speech Fewapy Radio has foolishly allowed this to happen – can you stomach it?

…..Dufus got into Vienna 2009 desperately. They broke their bass guitar the night before in Italy and had to find a guitar repairman on short notice. When singer and songwriter Seth Hebert-Faergolzia – apart from making music he designs clothes, writes novels and creates sculptures – and his three bandmates arrived at Fluc, everything was successfully fixed, set and ready for a long night full of experimental, freaky folk music. It’s the style that Dufus are refining for more than a decade now, releasing an impressing amount of great albums and temporarily involving songwriters such as Regina Spektor, Kimya Dawson, Jeffrey Lewis and Turner Cody. Just before their last song, Seth invited everyone around to join us for the nightly video shoot afterwards. – we all went to a tunnel close to the club for a 2 a.m. video shoot, with Dufus making up an impromptu choreography. We’re looking for someone Birmingham-based – someone great 🙂

I’d be grateful if you could spread the word, and ask any interested parties to email: musicadminjob at poseidonmusic.com for further details.

LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM – EUROPEAN ELECTION 2009 RESULTS REACTION

June 9, 2009

Here follows a message from Love Music Hate Racism: “Britain’s Nazi Party – the BNP – grabbed two UK seats in the European Parliament, in the North West and Yorkshire. This happened despite their total number of votes not increasing, in both regions, from the 2004 elections.

While a strong anti-fascist campaign has been instrumental in stemming their support, the recession, mass disgust at corruption among MPs and the disastrous collapse of mainstream party votes have enabled the Nazis to win by default.

It is more important than ever before to make it known who the BNP really are and to step up mass resistance to the fascists who represent a small minority in our society. Both Griffin and other BNP MEP Andrew Brons are long-standing Nazis with vile fascist associations and in Griffin’s case he has been convicted for race hate.

Many of us will be horrified and appalled by these results, be we need to make sure we vocalise this reaction. We need to make sure people who oppose the BNP actively fight them. If you aren’t already, become an activist in your local area – get involved in your local group or create one, join LMHR and Donate to the campaign and our sister campaign Unite Against Fascism. Show your disgust and opposition to the racist thugs who’ve been elected to Europe, they must be stopped!

As a starting point for those in the North West and Yorkshire – Protests begin TODAY and will go on throughout the month.

Watch www.lovemusichateracism.com for more information about how you can show your opposition to the racists. “
