Simon has worked with the likes of Napalm Death, Cathedral, Meathook Seed, and a host of others from The Cubans, Harpies, and The Nightingales. Hughes, documenting a year in the life of Police Bastard with footage from a show the band organised at The Market Tavern, Birmingham 2007, Steve Ignorant’s “Feeding of the 5,000” aftershow party, London 2007 and a tour of Europe in 2008 organised by Alerta Antifascista. “Gone” CD Review – Rock Links / Nick J. Townsend’s Monthly Column
“One of the greatest (if not the greatest) bands to come out of England in the past 10 years. That’s a bold statement and yes I made it because I totally believe it too. This band is brutal, hard hitting, powerful, with deep lyrics, genius, talented and amazing live too. I could go on, and I will. The guitars and riffs this band produce are world class and will fuel the hardest stomper. The best of the best at what they do. They are hardcore, they are punk, they are metal, they are a million other great things, Last Under The Sun are the band I want playing at my funeral. I think that says it all really. If a band makes you want to hear them after you are dead then that truly must be the ultimate thing.” – Rock Links / Nick J Townsend’s Monthly Column

Last Under The Sun – “Gone” CD Review – Paul E.D Music World Radio
“You will not get a suntan, but a nice ear blast.

This is not a full throttle hardcore punk album with 25 two second songs.  This is more a roller-coaster of sounds. From short 3 minute songs to 5-6 epic offerings, if you like punk with a more eclectic, ‘off your head’ edge; with quiet electronic element in live instrument form, then check this out.

From subtle songs to ballistic missiles. Starts with Time For Your Leaving then dives into Aphex Twin live band style Painting Is Dead.

The trolley song is what you would expect on the album. The punk/indie cross, thrashing the guitar riffs then to what sounds like like acoustic cuts. Great guitar riffs with vocals from Mark. The song reminds me of The Wedding Present.

If you were expecting straight down the road raw punk, this will take you by surprise. Half of the Police Bastard line up on this album, which is the reason for the crossover sound.

If you want an album to leave you gasping for breath then this is for you.

If you have never heard this band before, think The Wedding Present crossed with Aphex Twin elements and fast guitar work” – Paul E.D Music World Radio (January 2010)

“..it seems only fitting that their debut CDEP be a focused, uncompromising attack on callous warmongers everywhere…. the importance of the message being delivered utterly eclipses the medium that delivers it.” Ian Glasper – Terrorizer Magazine – Issue 132 June 2005

“..a bass and rhythm section as tight as eberneezer scrooge…..Too short by half, this is nonetheless essential and extreme.” Positive Creed fanzine

“..hardcore punk rock in total English style: fast and chaotic and like a fist to the head…..This will fuel you like Crazy.” No Front Teeth Fanzine

“Last Under The Sun are one of the best hardcore bands around they create songs with a clear message and deliver them in crushing and uncompromising style.” Will Munn Rhtyhm and Booze Fanzine

“..great hooks and a furious sense of energy driving the whole thing. This is one of the best punk rock records I’ve heard recently from Britain (Birmingham)” Reason to Believe #10 Fanzine

Punk Britannia – UK Punk and Ska on Internet Radio Thursdays 7am-8am UK Time

May 8, 2010

Here’s some news from Paul at American internet radio station Punk Rock Demonstration.

“I have just started my own show on American internet radio station Punk Rock Demonstration (www.punkrockdemo.com)

My hourly show goes out on Thursdays at 11pm to Midnight (California time), which is 7am to 8am UK time.

I play UK Punk and Ska and the show is called Punk Britannia.

I would appreciate it if you could spread the word to any bands that you are involved and ask them to send MP3s to
paulaitch.punk at yahoo.co.uk if they would like to be featured on the show.

I came to your website after Police Bastard sent me some tracks.

I have a myspace site (albeit not very well pimped) where there is information regarding sending CDs if that’s what bands prefer to do. www.myspace.com/paulaitchpunk

Here’s the podcast of the latest show to give you a flavour http://cdn4.libsyn.com/sandbox/Punk_Britannia_Show_3.mp3?nvb=20100413231010&nva=20100414232010&t=0447a50219a5e4c863141

The EDL have occupied the site of the new mosque in Dudley

May 3, 2010

This information has just been sent in so I am passing it on as requested:

“The EDL have occupied the site of the new mosque in Dudley since yesterday. The EDL are a racist organisation and the street thugs of the far right. In the past they have attacked asian shops, mosques and have been seen doing Nazi salutes. They have enough food and water to stay there for over a week. The police are refusing to move them out. They are planning to march through Dudley today. We need a massive counter protest against them. Contact for information on 07886608405. Please let all your networks know.”

“We’ve had to change the date, it seems Saturday will be a washout. Provisionally Birmingham Million Marijuana March is now set for Monday 3rd May behind the Golden Lion Pub in the park on the grass. I have messaged every one who said they were coming. 2 days to talk about Monday on the Birmingham l.C.A group. Lets do it!”

Birmingham Million Marijuana March Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH. Come and find us beside the Golden Lion Of Jah and later at MAC.

“I am thinking what a fun day it will be at Birmingham’s J-Day and Marijuana march come meet up. Sure people will be popping by to have a chat or being brave enough to be proud to pronounce a spiritually environmentally medical socio/economical truth. Ganja for the healing of the nations! MAC, Cannon Hill Park, is open again where ganja has been used daily since the 60’s even before Ian Botham passed through.”

Here are the principles, aims and proposals set out by the LEGALISE CANNABIS ALLIANCE, PO Box 2883, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 9EE http://www.lca-uk.org

PRINCIPLES

• We believe the use of cannabis ought to be a matter of choice and not of law.
• We believe that the prohibition of cannabis is against the public interest.
• We believe that the prohibition of cannabis contravenes Human Rights.
• We believe that the prohibition of cannabis inhibits the use of a beneficial resource.
• We believe that the legalisation of cannabis is a very important step that should be taken to benefit the people and their environment.

AIMS

• To hasten the full legalisation and utilisation of the cannabis plant for the good of the peoples of this world, on a local, national and international level.
• To secure the release of all prisoners convicted only of cannabis offences and to ensure that all criminal records for cannabis offences are expunged.
• To encourage public and private research into the many beneficial uses of cannabis including industrial, social and medical uses for the good of the people
. • To halt all criminal prosecutions for the use of cannabis as a social or private relaxant including its uses as a sacrament or in religious or other ritual.
• To provide a voice for those in society persecuted and prosecuted for cannabis activities that victimise none.

PROPOSALS

• That cannabis and cannabis products should be removed from the UK Misuse of Drugs Act, thereby being legalised.
• That the possession, cultivation and use of pure cannabis and cannabis products be free from prosecution
• That cannabis be re-introduced into our society.
• That high priority be given to the cultivation of cannabis for the express purpose of the localised production of virtually cost-free fuels through the process of pyrolysis on cannabis biomass, and as a source of fibre and hurd.
• That provision be made to enable the setting up of public establishments where the use of cannabis is permitted.
• That provision be made to enable the setting up of outlets for the legal supply of cannabis.
• That at least the same level of protection be given to the cannabis consumer as is given to the consumers of other commodities: weights and measures, quality etc.
• That all prisoners presently held only on cannabis convictions or charges be released from custody without delay and that all criminal records for cannabis offences be expunged.

  • Born in London, England on 10th January 1978 to a Barbadian father and British-Jamaican mother, Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians to hit the British Jazz and Hip Hop scenes in recent years.

He first became interested in music at the tender age of eight, playing clarinet at primary school. He quickly developed a fondness for the alto saxophone and was given his first instrument when he was nine. After meeting Wynton Marsalis four years later he discovered and became passionate about Jazz, first concentrating on piano and later, in his teens, focusing on saxophone.
