The various members of June of 44 all tell tales of how this album was the “weirdest thing they have ever done” and how they, at different times, “left our bodies behind and looked down on the going on in the room.” Experimenting not only in songwriting, but also in instrumentation and recording. Violins, percussion, echoed effects, Fred’s trumpet, and the sounds of a typewriter all work together in an earthy, cohesive sound.
