Transglobal Underground – One of the country’s best loved festival bands, a techno sound system, a pop group, a club night, a Middle Eastern hit production team…The masters of global fusion are back

Few acts in the UK can demonstrate such a profound influence, a multifaceted legacy, and carry such a mysterious legendary status as Transglobal Underground. From their origins in the dance scene in the early 90s they became one of the country’s best loved festival bands, a techno sound system, a pop group, a club night, a Middle Eastern hit production team, an improvised study group for Indian classical music, an Albanian brass band, a duo..or was it an octet?... Transglobal Underground exploded onto the club scene with the club classic ‘Temple Head’ a track with inspiration taken from the UK bhangra scene, with one foot in the Madchester and indie worlds,…

Stephen Hodd – Singer, Songwriter & Guitarist

Imagine if your dreams had a soundtrack? If you could hear that abstract painting you love play for you? If the sea, the wind, the rain, the thunder, the lightning, the sunset could make music of their own? How would that be? What would they say? It's really just a Scots/Irish guy with a guitar and a few effects pedals, but Stephen isn't just a singer/songwriter, though he's that too. There's a bit more to it, really. His voice and music fills spaces - Inner and outer in a theatrical and soul-touching way. In a career that, so far, has earned him support slots with such luminaries as Mark Knopfler, Bonnie…

John Murry – Monday 3rd February 2020 at The Slaughtered Lamb, London. Doors 7pm, Music from 7.30pm

John Murry was adopted at birth into the family of William Faulkner. Some have speculated that the Faulkner blood might also run in his veins, but that should be left for a Southern Gothic novel yet to be written (or perhaps re-written). Raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, in the shadow of Elvis, his undiagnosed autism led to troubles at an early age that led to prescribed medication, which led to un-prescribed medication, which led to being institutionalised for addiction and mental health issues at a too young age. Eventually, discarded onto the streets of Memphis, he found music, which became the one constant positive force in his life. Memphis led to San…

9 Questions answered by Mark at Iron Man Records, Birmingham, 2012.

How did Iron Man Records come about? I started buying records at an early age but soon found that record collecting was an expensive luxury and the only choice was what was stacked on the shelves or anything that hadnt already sold out. I spent time finding good second hand shops but again, the majority of records i found were old vinyl in poor condition or unwanted items and i could never find much I was interested in. I spent a lot of my time reading the music magazines for free in shops on saturday afternoons looking at the features and reviews but again there was never much i really found…
