Seth Faergolzia of Dufus returns with Multibird in July 2016

March 3, 2016

magnum

Seth Faergolzia from New York here.  I’m excited to announce that my stellar new project, MULTIBIRD, will be touring Europe in July.  I’ve been performing in Europe since 2001 when I first toured with Jeffrey Lewis and Cornershop.  Ever since then, I’ve come back at least once a year with one of my projects (Dufus, Faergolzia, Heck Yup, solo).  I’m just finishing up a project called #100songs, which is a songwriting & recording project which has been released via subscription website.  We will be promoting this 4 album set and performing a “best of” from the #100songs project.

MULTIBIRD is an ensemble of four (acoustic and electric guitars, bass and drums) who I’ve been working with for over a year, developing new material, pulling up old favorites from my back catalogue, and even playing a few choice covers (Zelda, Burning Down the House, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Roll Bus Roll).  If you haven’t yet heard my music, please check out the description and websites below.  If you have heard the music, then you know you will want to book us straight away before all dates fill.

We are booking dates during the month of July.  We prefer professional music venues with sound support but very much enjoy playing art spaces, outdoor events and even house concerts as well.
I hope to hear back from you soon!!
Best,
Seth

Biography:

Multibird is the brand new project by Seth Faergolzia. Seth is well known for subtly harmonic, experimental lyricism, dynamic song structures, and whip-crack-acrobatic vocals with projects such as Dufus, Heck Yup & Faergolzia.  Celebrated as a vibrant example of what happens when a musician turns a genre like folk upside down and inside out, over time Faergolzia has come to represent something of a genre unto himself oft times nowhere near the folk aesthetic.

With a body of work that exceeds 20 albums and appearances in over 20 countries with the likes of The YeahYeahYeahs, Dan Deacon, Animal Collective, Regina Spektor, Jeffrey Lewis, Moldy Peaches, Kool Keith, Benevento Russo Duo, and many more, Seth Faergolzia is poised to put a spring in the step of his global following with his latest project, MULTIBIRD.  He has, in a short span of months, written 100 songs, and released one fully produced song per week through his subscription website, completing a versatile four album set called #100songs.

The band:

Seth Faergolzia leading, singing and strumming acoustic. Shaun Jones from Heck Yup, will be gently shredding electric guitar. Beat professor, drummer extraordinaire, Dominic Marini was along for the Faergolzia tour last year and has become a solid mainstay of Seth’s projects. Stan Martinelli, the youngest member of Seth’s project 23 Psaegz is wielding the bass like Thor’s hammer.  All four members of the band sing in lush harmony.

The freak-folk group will be performing a full and varied cross-section of the peerless oddball music that has delighted and baffled audiences, collaborators, and critics alike for over 2 decades. Faergolzia will continue to shake musical conventions, making moments honest and organic in their exploration of possibility.

Here’s a message from Seth Faergolzia of Dufus:

“Hoping all is well with you… I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be touring the UK this summer with my stellar 4 piece band, Seth Faergolzia’s Multibird.  The last couple of tours I’ve done in the UK have been just solo or with a duo supporting Jeffrey Lewis, so I’m really pumped up about coming over with a solid band.  We will have drums, bass, electric guitar and myself as usual on acoustic guitar and vocals.  We are planning on coming to the UK July 11-20 and would really love to book something with you.  Any info you’d need regarding my music over the past 20 years is available on my website www.faergolzia.com

Let’s make something awesome happen!

Best,
Seth

Police Bastard - Confined - Terrorizer review by Ian Glasper 2014

“CVLT Nation’s Top 6 Crust Albums 2013: Police Bastard are pretty infamous at this stage, so no need for any introductions with band member links to Doom, Sore Throat, Filthkick, Sensa Yuma etc. Their new album ‘Confined’ sticks to their cynical view of the world mixed with innovative guitar textures and driving industrial intensity. Thought-provoking monologues and confrontational lyrics bring you on a cold, doom-laden journey of perpetual war, psychological mind control, disillusionment and omnipresent bullshit. For a band that has been knocking about on and off for twenty years, they could be forgiven for reverting to the formulaic. However, they rethink and deliver a furious maelstrom of complex dark hardcore, best served cold.” CVLT Nation (Dec 19, 2013)

Police Bastard - Confined Band Photo 2013

“The album starts with “The Curse Of The Cross”, an anti-theistic slice of brutality, which leaves the listener in no doubt that Police Bastard mean business. You even get a quote from Richard Dawkins about teaching the bible as fiction. Musically they give us huge chugging riffs on “Brought To Our Knees”, which tackles the blandness of multi-national companies infecting the high street, set against the backdrop of the widening gap between rich and poor. For those that like their anthems loud and stompy, “Sick Sick System” will no doubt win a seal of approval with its knock about Punk mayhem and catchy refrain, ‘sick sick system, same old bullshit’. Elsewhere on the album, we get subjects as diverse as being captivated by virtual reality (Word Confined) and environmental disaster from the hand of mankind (Cries From The Earth). Album closer “Fortress” sees organised religion attacked once more, and poses the question, how long before it crumbles…..” – Zak, Ryans Gig Guide (Dec 01, 2013)

Police Bastard - Confined CD Back Cover

“….From Mark Orton‘s cover art through the final song, “Fortress,” Police Bastard have presented an album that uses hardcore’s battering ram approach to push through a series of songs that depict how humanity has destroyed the Earth. Lines such as “We’re sealing our fate” hammer home the idea that mankind has taken the world to the edge of existence, and we’ll all soon perish, should we not change our ways. Thankfully, Confined manages to never lapse into Earth Crisis-like preaching, choosing instead to quote the likes of John Gray‘s Straw Dogs: “Long after the traces of the human animal have disappeared, many of the species it is bent on destroying will still be around, along with others that have yet to spring up. The Earth will forget mankind. The play of life will go on.” While the music is basic hardcore which occasionally aims for bigger sonic targets, the lyrics and presentation are what make Police Bastard worth checking out……” Rock Star Journalist, Rock Star Journalist (Nov 22, 2013)

The Dough Rollers

February 28, 2015

“This kid I like right now, Jack, he’s in this band The Dough Rollers. I like this kid’s style. He’s not trying to knock you over. I like watching him.”  Jack White, Rolling Stone.

The Dough Rollers

The Dough Rollers take their name from a song (Dough Roller Blues) officially recorded in the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee in 1930 by celebrated blues singer and guitarist Garfield Akers. The track Cottonfield Blues which Akers recorded a year earlier has often been credited with heralding the birth of rock n roll itself and when you consider that the Dough Rollers also cite  “Father of the Delta Blues” musician Charley Patton as a major hero you get some idea that you’re not going to see these guys on American Idol any time soon. Which is not to say that haven’t already appeared on the David Letterman Show – because they have.

The Dough Rollers are essentially Malcolm Ford (vocals, guitar) and Jack Byrne (guitar, vocals) and their history as a band dates back to 2008 when they both bonded over a mutual appreciation for blues music. Born in Wyoming Malcolm met New York-born Jack whilst out clubbing and demanded that he give him guitar lessons. Jack duly obliged and the nascent two-piece then expanded to encompass fiddler and singer Julia Tepper. Two albums quickly followed before the band expanded to a four piece for their third long playing offering (adding bass and drums) that really made people sit up and take note. Those people included Bob Dylan, John Mellencamp and Queens Of The Stone Age who all took the Dough Rollers on tour and Jack White who promptly signed the band to his Third Man Records.

The Dough Rollers released Little Lily/The Sailing Song on 7” vinyl through Third Man Records before recording the five track Gone Baby Gone EP which features Gone Baby Gone, Mansion On A Hill (produced by Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme whose previous credits include much of Arctic Monkeys Humbug), Friend Of Mine, My Love and Garbage Salad (featured on Letterman).

Released in the UK for the first time on April 6th the EP is a chance to get acquainted with Ford’s wondrous whisky-tinged vocals and Byrne’s nimble fretwork and it’s also a foretaste of the band’s debut album as a four-piece, an album they are currently recording in Manhattan’s Relicroom Studio. Gone Baby Gone EP will be available via Third Man Records from April 6th 2015.

Luxury Splitter Vans for Hire- Driving You Crazy 2012

Tour Management Services

Most of my work is based around Tour Management in the Music Industry but I have also worked with the Theatre and Film Industry.

I have played in all sorts of bands myself over the years, I’ve organised 1000’s of gigs as i used to put on regular shows in Birmingham, I’ve set up tours, managed bands, put together press kits, pr and promotion strategies, worked out online strategies for artists big and small, I run a record label, and I’ve dealt with all sorts of madness along the way. I have an understanding of most problems, pressures and issues that performers and their crew may face. I’ve taken a lot of people to a lot of gigs from living rooms, small venues, squats, warehouses, TV and Radio Stations to major music venues and festivals of all shapes and sizes.

I have a clean driving licence with a C1 and D1 which means I can tow trailers and drive any car, van or splitter.

Vehicles

I’m a freelance. I work for you, not the hire company. This means that if you employ me I can find you a good vehicle or trailer or anything else you might need so that’s less work you have to do. I can source Splitters, Gear vans, Cars, Minibuses…anything you might need.

Online Strategy

I have an active interest in internet and social media. If you’re interested in how I could help with your, or your artist’s on-line presence get in touch.

Rates

I charge per day. A day is 8 hours, after the first 8 hours I charge per hour. The hours run from when I collect the vehicle for the work until I return it.

Alternatively, I also charge a ‘set day rate’. This is negotiable, in advance of the work, depending on what you want me to do. Longer term clients tend to be on a set day rate, It works out cheaper and no one has to watch the clock.

I expect PDs and buyout/catering on any work where I’m away overnight, and buyout/catering on any day over 8 hours.

Some recent Artists / Clients

“On this EP, Last Under The Sun deliver five songs of terror and the harsh realities of life. In that same apocalyptically bleak way that bands like the Subhumans and Crass have done in the past. But they are singing about our current day in a direct way “how many people die, for a worthless cause… I dont wanna die in some desert war”. It is all about our politically violent world, but at times it’s done with some humor like on the song ‘Hooligan Jihad’. How can you forget the lyrics “You can’t play crust in fucking flip-flops…”. Frantic and pissed off, members also make up Birmingham’s infamous Police Bastard, who had a split with War//Plague on Profane Existence last year. Which is no surprise as you could draw parallels in the style they play. Very much a no excuses crust styled hardcore with it’s roots firmly in DIY hardcore punk. There certainly is great production and tight musicianship on this too, without losing a raw punk sound.” – Sean Fitzgerald, Profane Existence (Dec 08, 2012)

“The first word that springs to mind when hearing this provocatively titled EP by Birmingham band Last Under The Sun is brutal. Relentless would be another good word. It is the sort of noise that would stun an elephant, or induce Central American Dictators to surrender. They would be nail on cert’s to be the house band in Guantanamo Bay. They badge themselves as a Punk and Hard-core band, and this is pretty much on the nail. Shouty or almost spoken vocals, short and to the point songs and that attitude are very punk, and it is all set to music that yes does have that melody that punk grasped so well, but it is nearly buried under a ferocious attack of blistering, thrashed up metal style riffs and machine gun drums that hammer away without recourse to such social niceties as pausing for breath. The band has been in existence in various forms since about 2001 and this experience and longevity shows, the sound is developed, the songs accomplished and it all has a togetherness about it.” – Ed Dyer, Green Man Music (Oct 31, 2012)

“Hooligan Jihad, released November 23rd 2012, by Last Under The Sun is fast-paced hardcore punk that doesn’t hold back. Last Under The Sun is a four-piece band based out of Birmingham England. They performed their first show in October of 2001, and continued to play in Holland, Belgium, France and Germany. Over the years, two of their drummers passed away: Neil Farrington in 2009 and Samuel Fry in 2011. The five-song album starts off with “More Helicopters” which has a strong anti-war message, clearly stated in the lyrics “I don’t wanna die in your fucking war,” and finishes with a two minute sum up of the album in their song “Hooligan Jihad.” The instrumentation in this album is solid. The beats are fast and in your face, clearly synced well through the many years of musicianship this band has shared. They blend punk and hardcore nicely, in that when they’re not blasting away their punk beats, they’re getting you moving with a breakdown…..” – Christine Collins, Upstate metal (Dec 22, 2012)

Driving / TM Services

I have a clean driving licence with a C1 and D1 which means I can tow trailers and drive any van or splitter.

Vehicles

I’m a freelance. I work for you, not the hire company. This means that if you employ me I can find you a good vehicle or trailer or anything else you might need so that’s less work you have to do. I can source Splitters, Gear vans, Cars, Minibuses…anything you might need.

Online Strategy

I have an active interest in the internet and social media. If you’re interested in how I could help with your, or your artist’s on-line presence get in touch.

I charge per day. A day is 8 hours, after the first 8 hours I charge per hour. The hours run from when I collect the vehicle for the work until I return it.

Alternatively, I also charge a ‘set day rate’. This is negotiable depending on what you want me to do. Longer term clients tend to be on a set day rate, It works out cheaper and no one has to watch the clock.

Seth Faergolzia of Dufus Europe Tour May 1st – 26th 2014

January 1, 2014

Seth Faergolzia of Dufus will be back in Europe from May 1st-26th. Ever since his days as the mastermind behind critically-acclaimed avant-boho outfit Dufus, Seth Faergolzia has blazed colorful trails into modes of expression one couldn’t have foreseen even as Dufus were being hailed as “freak folk” innovators.

When Faergolzia first emerged out of lower Manhattan at the turn of the millennium, he cut quite the figure as a trailblazing artist committed to pursuing his vision on the fringe of the fringes, quickly distinguishing himself as a visionary with an entertainer’s flair and a penchant for bending minds. Naturally, the surface absurdism of his output drew comparisons to likeminded iconoclasts like Captain Beefheart, Zappa, Ween, and Mr. Bungle. But, Faergolzia has come to represent a genre unto himself, the labyrinthine pathways of his inspiration delighting audiences and collaborators alike. In his new live show, taking the stage as a one-man tornado of sound, Faergolzia draws from new material, electronic samples, loops, improvisations, and choice selections from the Dufus vault — a full and varied cross-section of the matchless oddball muse that has delighted audiences, collaborators, and critics alike for over a decade.

Known to his fervent fan base as an electrifying live performer, Steve was recently joined on stage by John Paul Jones at his rousing headline show at London’s Roundhouse, and fans can look forward to seeing Steve throughout the summer festival period, with appearances at Glastonbury and Lounge On The Farm amongst many others.

Hubcap Music, Steve’s 6th studio album and currently number one on the UK Record Store Chart, has been his most critically acclaimed to date and follows in the wake of Gold Certified album ‘You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks’.

As well as featuring in Steve’s incredible live show, John Paul Jones also worked with Steve and performed on the recording sessions for ‘Hubcap Music’, which features a roll call of incredible artists including Jack White, Luther Dickinson and Elizabeth Cook.
