Mipso – European Tour Dates June 2022

In the springtime of 2019, Mipso headed out on several writing retreats around their home state, with a mission of laying down the framework for their self-titled sixth album. In a particularly charmed outing for the North Carolina-bred four-piece—fiddle player Libby Rodenbough, mandolinist Jacob Sharp, guitarist Joseph Terrell, and bassist Wood Robinson—Mipso holed up on a farm near Chapel Hill in the middle of May, teasing songs out in a barn whose tin roof rattled wildly during the near-daily downpours. As with all their writing sessions for Mipso, the band brought in instruments outside their usual repertoire (analog synths, lap steel guitars, a toy piano), slipping into a prolonged period of…

John Murry – The Stars are God’s Bullet Holes – Tour Dates 18th-28th November 2021

“We talk in black and white, ones and zeros and satellites, and one day we just might replace our very souls.” John Murry’s third album, ‘The Stars Are God’s Bullet Holes’ was produced by John Parish (PJ Harvey, Eels, Aldous Harding, This Is the Kit) at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth. Now based in Ireland, Murry has released two critically acclaimed albums, his 2012 debut ‘The Graceless Age’ Age’ (“…a work of genius”  ***** The Guardian) and the 2017 follow-up ‘A Short History Of Decay’ (“..delivers in gloriously dysfunctional bucketloads” **** Mojo). The starkly beautiful ‘Ones + Zeros’ has a meditative, melancholic feel, with warm analogue crackles, subtle percussion and soothing backing vocals…

Total Assault On The Culture – November 2021

“There swims behind it all a mass of tremendous life” — Moby Dick an 1851 novel by American writer Herman Melville This month has been multi-drop van delivery driving all the way in an attempt to turn mileage into music. A few days ago, I found myself loading bathroom supplies into a hire van at the back of a warehouse in pouring rain, whilst discussing abstract mathematics and the life and works of Robert Anton Wilson by phone as confused warehouse staff looked on wondering who on earth I was talking to? Sometimes I don’t understand how anything happens, and the only thing to do is climb behind the wheel and drive…

Church of Burn’s ‘Festival of Money’ – London 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th July 2021. Support our crowdfund

Church of Burn in collaboration with The Cockpit present: CoB's Festival of Money Most money events are as dull as dishwater. There's even one that's actually called 'The Boring Money Conference'.  These events are usually sponsored by some corporation, accountancy firm or bank. And they're mostly for folks like venture capitalists, payment gurus, financial advisors and the movers and shakers in Fintech; all big earners who then get to set the agenda for the rest of us. CoB's Festival of Money is different. A whole lot different.  If a normal money conference is like karaoke, ours is more Jimi Hendrix at Monterey. First up, there's the venue. The Cockpit is a legendary fringe theatre not a bland conference…

John Murry – Monday 3rd February 2020 at The Slaughtered Lamb, London. Doors 7pm, Music from 7.30pm

John Murry was adopted at birth into the family of William Faulkner. Some have speculated that the Faulkner blood might also run in his veins, but that should be left for a Southern Gothic novel yet to be written (or perhaps re-written). Raised in Tupelo, Mississippi, in the shadow of Elvis, his undiagnosed autism led to troubles at an early age that led to prescribed medication, which led to un-prescribed medication, which led to being institutionalised for addiction and mental health issues at a too young age. Eventually, discarded onto the streets of Memphis, he found music, which became the one constant positive force in his life. Memphis led to San…
