Formal apology on behalf of the United Kingdom to the people of the European Union regarding Brexit and a gesture of hospitality

Dear People of the European Union, I am writing this letter for and on behalf of the United Kingdom to extend our heartfelt apologies for the impact of Brexit on the people of the European Union, and for the personal insult, distress and uncertainty it has caused. I didn't vote for Brexit, I voted to remain and I have had to learn to respect and accept the outcome of the referendum and it's many consequences. On the day of the results, back in 2016, I was driving a French TV News crew around London. Pierre the TV News programme producer turned to me at 4am, as the crew prepared their equipment…

Rewards for Iron Man Records Patrons. Become a Patron today and support the cause

Iron Man Records has had to develop a number of survival skills in the wasteland that is the world of independent music. Changing habits post Covid, the cost of living crisis, Brexit, the cost of touring, the price of fuel, streaming services, and online platforms have drained the life blood from the environment that musicians operate in. At a time when most people are overwhelmed with music to choose from, playing music has become an unsustainable career choice for many. Earning enough to just cover basic costs has become almost a dream. I would like to invite you to become an Iron Man Records Patron. Musicians need a number of different…

Musicians, Artists, Writers, Poets and Performers — Stay positive, keep going, and be prepared to fight where you stand.

“I am not what is called a civilized man, Professor. I have done with society for reasons that seem good to me. Therefore, I do not obey its laws.” — 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Jules Verne “. . . there are periods of history when the visions of madmen and dope fiends are a better guide to reality than the common-sense interpretation of data available to the so-called normal mind. This is one such period, if you haven’t noticed already.” R.A.Wilson We have all fallen for it. We have taken the easy pleasures available through the consumption of popular culture. We have become docile and content, no matter how difficult…

Antigone with fish fingers. Oedipus as a corkscrew. And a Greek tragedy that becomes a Greek salad by Oliver Senton

Every tragedy needs its satyr play. After drama welcome relief is needed. After a hard day watching humans wrestle with the gods of Olympus, what the good people of ancient Greece needed was massive phalluses, the clangour of drums and horns, and actors in ridiculous goatish masks to ease the holy terror they had experienced over a whole day (usually three plays’ worth) of drama. Fast forward two thousand years. When Peter Hall and John Barton brought their nine-hour Trojan War epic Tantalus to The Barbican in 2001, it came with no such final treat. The 12-hour original had been trimmed after its première in Denver the year before, the two…
