“I am not what is called a civilized man, Professor. I have done with society for reasons that seem good to me. Therefore, I do not obey its laws.” — 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, Jules Verne
“. . . there are periods of history when the visions of madmen and dope fiends are a better guide to reality than the common-sense interpretation of data available to the so-called normal mind. This is one such period, if you haven’t noticed already.” R.A.Wilson
We have all fallen for it. We have taken the easy pleasures available through the consumption of popular culture. We have become docile and content, no matter how difficult our economic circumstances. It is not the observers who are at fault, it is the attitude of mind of the people who think they know better. We are no longer dreaming the dream, we make choices, and increasingly we settle for mass produced consumer items.
“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality” — The Cheshire Cat, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Music and all artistic and creative expression, is intrinsic to and an essential characteristic of human species-being. Music is a form of language, a type of communication, a spiritual force, an aesthetic or artistic expression, social ritual, entertainment and recreational activity, and is socio-politically catalytic. It’s time to move.
“The first step — especially for young people with energy and drive and talent, but not money — the first step to controlling your world is to control your culture. To model and demonstrate the kind of world you demand to live in. To write the books. Make the music. Shoot the films. Paint the art.” Chuck Palahniuk.
We have to make the world we want to live in, through our actions, by what we do everyday. In association with the legions of the illuminated and on behalf of all influential administrators and creators of music: We are the dreamers of the dream. If it’s not impossible it’s not worth doing. The duty of the revolutionary is to make the revolution. The duty of the musician is to make the music. MUSIC IS REVOLUTION. Music is a weapon of cultural revolution. We cannot be formally normalised nor can we be normally formalised.
The time has come to fight where we stand. There’s no one else here but us. If you want to feel good, we have to establish a situation where all people can feel good.
“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge. That myth is more potent than history. That dreams are more powerful than facts. That hope always triumphs over experience. That laughter is the only cure for grief. And I believe that love is stronger than death.” — Robert Fulghum
Music is a vehicle for social change. If you demand justice, understanding, equality, freedom, and genuine happiness. If you demand music, poetry, performance, creativity, peace and love. It’s time to Immanentize the Eschaton. Join in. Our legions are everywhere and nowhere. Demand the impossible.
“The only way to support a revolution is to make your own” — Abbie Hoffman, Woodstock Nation
“A slave is one who waits for someone to come and free him.” Ezra Pound
