Formal apology on behalf of the United Kingdom to the people of the European Union regarding Brexit and a gesture of hospitality

Dear People of the European Union,

I am writing this letter for and on behalf of the United Kingdom to extend our heartfelt apologies for the impact of Brexit on the people of the European Union, and for the personal insult, distress and uncertainty it has caused. I didn’t vote for Brexit, I voted to remain and I have had to learn to respect and accept the outcome of the referendum and it’s many consequences.

On the day of the results, back in 2016, I was driving a French TV News crew around London. Pierre the TV News programme producer turned to me at 4am, as the crew prepared their equipment for the long day ahead and said, “On your Prime Minister’s decision to put it to a referendum, we have a word for this sort of behaviour in France, we call it RECKLESS.”

I still struggle to understand how this green and pleasant land managed to completely lose it’s mind.

I apologise for the tumultuous and protracted process of Brexit, which has undoubtedly caused uncertainty and upheaval within the EU and beyond. The decision to pursue Brexit has resulted in a period of unprecedented complexity and division, ridiculous postage charges for Vinyl and CDs, and all sorts of other nonsense, that you have had to deal with. For this, I wish to express deepest regret. Sorry.

The prolonged negotiations and the resulting uncertainties have undoubtedly strained the longstanding partnership and collaboration between the UK and the EU. I hope that where political borders may seek to divide, music, art, poetry and performance will always find a way to unite us.

As a token of my personal regret and in a gesture of goodwill, I extend an open invitation to anyone from the European Union who happens to meet me in person. I would like to offer to share a quiet moment and a nice cup of traditional English tea with you, in the spirit of fostering understanding and extending a hand of friendship during these challenging and nonsensical times.

Demand World Peace

I have dedicated much of my life to bringing complete strangers together to share the joy of music, art and performance. It is my sincere hope that, as we navigate the complexities of this transition, we can work together to build a renewed sense of cooperation and friendship.
To The Gig Or To Oblivion
I remain committed to fostering a constructive and harmonious relationship with the people who live in the European Union, one that honors the shared history and values that have long connected us, despite all who would seek to divide us.

In extending this apology and invitation, I reaffirm a personal commitment to finding mutually beneficial solutions and to preserving the bonds of friendship and cooperation that have long defined our relationship with the EU and its member states.

Please accept my deepest apologies, and if there can be any method to the madness, I look forward to the opportunity to share a cup of English tea with any of you in person in some mad field here in the UK or on the wild highway of the EU. And in the meantime, if you would like a free download code for any Iron Man Records release, do let me know. We have to make the world we want to live in, and we can always make it better.

Yours sincerely,

Mark
